What is a STOMPBOX?

Thunder Accoustic Stompbox & Guitar Accessories

Stompboxes have been used by musicians for more than a decade to add analog, low-end, real time percussive bass self accompaniment. With a simple tap of the foot, the musician controls the style, tempo and volume, allowing audience interaction and a natural, player-controlled beat no matter what type of music. At Thunder Accoustic Stompbox our mission is to build the best acoustic stompbox in the business—one that is portable and simple to use. Our stompboxes come in a variety of models: single pickups, multiple pickups and even some with volume controls and tone boosters. Our owners/builders have over 25 years of musical and wood working design expertise Thunder Accoustic Stompboxes newest models bring to the market a new dimension and control to the already popular stompbox line-up. Thunder Accoustic Stompboxes are all individually handcrafted from fine wood and expensive acrylics and individually tuned and tested to give a drum-like sound. The Stompbox is fitted with a Piezo pickup with a ¼” jack output. Simply plug directly into the line level jack of your PA, sub-woofer or bass amp with a standard instrument cable and begin playing. Although Stompboxs can be used with a guitar amplifier the best results are always with sub-woofers and Bass amplifiers. Thunder Accoustic Stompbox is the perfect tool to add depth to your performances. DJ’s, drummers, solo guitarist & keyboard players, street performers, Blues – Pop - Country – Bluegrass - Rock Artists, and Keyboard Players can all add amazing depth to their performances. You can use multiple stompboxes to create even more complex rhythm effects. The Thunder Accoustic Stompbox can make several different tones, depending on where you make contact, what material is making contact (stomp- box can also be played with your hands or drumsticks). The Thunder Accoustic Stompbox platform allows the guitarist, drummer or percussionist to comfortably use the Thunder Accoustic Stompbox while sitting or standing.

If you require more volume from your stompbox, we recommend the use of a preamp like a Behringer PB100 to boost the volume and bass. Our top end model has a preamp built into it. The electronic circuitry is powered by a single 9V battery with extremely low power consumption. The battery turns on automatically, as soon as you plug the instrument cable into the endpin jack. To prolong battery life, take the cable out, when not in use. Depending on your equipment and its EQ setup, and the material of your shoes and where you stomp, you will get different sounds.
